So right near where my hearth sister lives is this beautiful holly tree. Like, no joke, just an awesome holly tree right there. So we’ve been meaning to get some wood from it for a while, and we finally did. We did as we normally do and asked the tree for permission to use her branches for wands and her leaves and berries for protection and good fortune in our favor and in favor of those around us.
So, my sister just got a grandmotherly, “Whatever you need, you can have” sort of yes. Me? I got a, “If you’d like, but the branch you’re touching isn’t the one you want.” And it directed me to this mildly different branch.
The one I had picked out was a long, pretty decent sized, straight stick. Whereas the one she insisted on was thin, narrow and split off in two parts. It would have been great for a dowsing rod if it wasn’t so frickin’ scrawny. But I followed her offer and took that branch instead. We tied our offerings onto the tree- In hopes that people would have enough respect not to rip them off as they pass by- and went on our way.
Might I add that the entire time we felt like we were being watched and her dog was freaking out, which she really doesn’t normally do. So we skedaddled on home.
Now we both have little, rather adorable wands. If my father hadn’t destroyed the camera on my laptop I’d post a picture, but that can come later, when I get on my new one.
But basically what I did, was I plan on using my wand towards luck, because my other wand is more for protection. I made a little handle by tying green thread (for luck) around it’s base semi-tightly and pinned it at the top through the string. (Don’t worry, I didn’t stick my wand with the pin.) And when I get back to my place I have an apache tear (good for bringing good luck to it’s holder and to balance one’s emotions and help release negative emotions) that I would very much like to tie onto my wand.
And that my dear followers is why I have not slept all night.
